Either way, transitions have a way of shaking things loose. The sense of who you are, what you want, and where you’re headed can feel suddenly uncertain. And even when the change is a good one, the process of getting through it can be harder than anyone tells you. You don’t have to navigate it alone — and you don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out.

Others arrive uninvited — a loss, a health diagnosis, a relationship ending, a role that suddenly no longer fits.

A new job, a move, a relationship change, becoming a parent, leaving a career you’ve outgrown.

Some transitions are chosen.

Whether you're facing a sudden disruption or a gradual realization that something needs to change, therapy can help you make sense of where you are and where you want to go next.

Life transitions don't always look the way people expect.

What This Can Look Like

For many of our clients it shows up as:

A quiet question in the background — is this really what I want?

Loneliness or disconnection as your relationships or circumstances shift

Feeling stuck between who you were and who you want to be

Difficulty making decisions or committing to a direction

A growing sense that the life you’ve built no longer fits who you’re becoming

Grief — even for changes you chose or wanted

Anxiety or uncertainty about the future and what comes next

A loss of identity or sense of purpose — not knowing who you are outside of a role you’ve left

Life transitions therapy at MovAttune is about more than getting through the change.

How We Can Help

Start the Conversation

It’s about using the transition as an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply — what matters to you, what you’ve outgrown, and what kind of life you actually want to build on the other side.

Our approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative approaches, and evidence-based strategies for navigating change. We work at your pace — because transitions have their own timeline, and that deserves to be respected.

A Note on Growth and Self-Discovery

Not everyone who comes to therapy for life transitions is in distress.

Some of our clients are simply at a point where they want to reflect more deeply — to understand themselves better, reconnect with their values, and build a life that feels more intentional and meaningful. If that sounds like you, you’re very welcome here. Therapy doesn’t require a crisis — sometimes the most valuable work happens when things are stable enough to actually look inward.

Life transitions therapy typically begins with one or two sessions to understand where you are, what’s shifted, and how you want to think, feel, and show up in this next chapter. Sessions are 50 minutes and are available in person in Calgary or virtually across Alberta.
