It doesn’t always look the way people expect.

The things that used to bring you joy feel distant. You’re going through the motions — but the sense of meaning, connection, or energy that used to be there has quietly faded. Or maybe it’s more subtle than that. Maybe you can’t point to anything obviously wrong — life looks fine on paper — but you’ve lost enthusiasm for things that used to matter. A kind of grey has settled in that you can’t quite shake. However it shows up for you — persistent low mood is worth taking seriously. And you don’t have to wait until things get worse to reach out.

You might still be showing up to work, taking care of responsibilities, and appearing fine on the outside.

But inside, something feels flat.

Low mood can affect many areas of life at once. Therapy can help you understand what's beneath it, reconnect with what matters to you, and begin moving forward again.

Low mood doesn’t always look the way people expect.

What This Can Look Like

For many of our clients it shows up as:

A quiet sense that things won’t get better — or uncertainty about what would even help

Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or following through

A persistent sense of flatness, emptiness, or sadness that doesn’t lift

Low energy or a sense of heaviness that follows you through the day

Going through the motions without any real sense of engagement or meaning

Loss of interest or pleasure in things that used to matter

Changes in sleep — too much, too little, or waking unrested

Withdrawing from relationships or social situations

Low mood therapy at MovAttune is best suited for adults who are functioning but struggling.

How We Can Help

Start the Conversation

Adults who are experiencing persistent flatness, loss of meaning, or disconnection from the life they want to be living. Our approach draws from evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Behavioural Activation, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Therapy for low mood isn’t just about reducing symptoms. It’s about helping you reconnect with what matters, rebuild engagement with your life, and move toward something that feels genuinely meaningful. For many of our clients, the goal isn’t just to feel less bad. It’s to feel genuinely alive again.

Low mood therapy typically begins with one or two sessions to understand your history, current experience, and goals. Sessions are 50 minutes and are available in person in Calgary or virtually across Alberta.

What to Expect

A Note on Clinical Depression

If you’ve been wondering whether what you’re experiencing goes beyond low mood — whether clinical depression or another condition might be at play — a psychodiagnostic assessment can help provide clarity.

A comprehensive assessment with Dr. Daniela Gonzalez can identify what’s going on, provide a formal diagnosis where applicable, and guide the most appropriate treatment path for your specific situation. You can learn more about our assessment services here:
